Our Current Chair Styles
Evolving directly from mid-19th century patterns used by Daniel Tappan and his children, our current models evoke an image of sturdy simplicity and do justice to their ancestors, many of which can be found in local homes to this day.The Tappan Bar Stool is versatile and, with a 24" seat, well suited for kitchen counters or bar tops with a 36" height. Also available in a 30" seat height for use at 42" counter tops, it is often also used as a weaving or drafting stool. The two-slat Tappan Side Chair is perfect at the kitchen table, while the three-slat Tappan Side and End Chairs fit comfortably in a dining room setting. The majestic four-slat Tappan Side and End Chairs round off a formal setting with flair. Based on recently uncovered models and patterns which had not been produced for over a century, the four- and five-slat "low" Tappan Rockers returned in style to our line in 2014. These Tappan Rockers are at home in front of a fireplace, in your favorite reading spot, or on an enclosed porch--with a Tappan Footstool to match!

In addition to the models shown, we also have the ability to make nearly a dozen historic models, including Berg Tappans, Blumberg Tappans, and Tappan Chairs produced by Daniel and his sons Walter and Winthrop using many of the original patterns by custom order.
